Sigma Nu Ranks First In Philanthropy, Leadership

Revised Academic Policy Raises Scholastic Standards for New Members, Actives

This fall, Theta Chapter continued to display excellence in many areas.  The Chapter received the highest ranking in two of the three categories that went into our student organization seating application.

Every fraternity on campus puts together an application, and I am pleased to announce that Theta Chapter ranked highest in philanthropy and campus leadership!

SGA President Matt Calderone ’09 Implements Delegate Program

Matt Calderone '09 - SGA President

Matt Calderone ’09 – SGA President

At this time, I would like to recognize two of our members for their leadership on campus. Matt Calderone ’09 is serving as the Student Government Association president. During his term Matt has accomplished a great deal.

The Sunday Service Initiative is a program where students volunteer every Sunday for those affected by the tornado. Matt has also started a Delegates Program in which every student organization has two delegates that work with members of the SGA.

The program increases communication and informs all organizations of options that are available to them.

I would also like to recognize Alexander Kontomitras ’10, who represented Theta Chapter as secretary for the IFC.

Sincerely,

Alumni, Theta Needs Your Recruitment Recommendations

As we start another new year, we also start another recruitment process. Our recruitment chairmen have always done an excellent job building new pledge classes, but we appreciate and rely on referrals from our alumni.

We value your input and ask that you please send membership recommendations to Recruitment Chairman Davis Underwood ’11. Please use our recruitment form to send in your recommendations.

Thanks!

Chapter Officers Address Academics, Facility

This year the executive council decided to focus our time in office on two objectives: member grades and house improvements. The Theta Chapter reinstated the policy of waiting until the spring semester to initiate new members to ensure that their grades are acceptable.

We have also established a policy that states if an active member falls below a certain G.P.A for two consecutive semesters, he will have to go inactive for a semester to increase his G.P.A.

Focusing on the second objective, we have made may improvements to the house. Some of these include adding a basketball court, TV room and completely overhauling the Internet in the house. I would like to thank our House Corporation and all alumni who assisted with these projects.
